Public Speaking for Business Professionals
Overview: How many times have you given directions that you considered clear and unambiguous to a colleague, only to hear the person say: “Oh, I thought that you meant something else?” Mis-communication is a source of frustration, but can also lead to accidents, wasted time, and conflict. Though many people think they have mastered verbal communication techniques, everyone experiences the consequences of failed communication. Objectives: This course reviews some of the basic tenets of effective verbal communication from the speaker's point of view. It is written to provide individuals (whether in the private, public, or non-profit sector, and at all levels of an organizational structure) with tips and hints to clarify communication.
